An endocervical culture will help your doctor identify the cause of your symptoms and provide you with the appropriate treatment. An endocervical culture can be also called vaginal culture.
How to prepare for your exam
- Avoid having intercourse for a few days beforehand.
- Avoid using any vaginal products or douching beforehand.
- Avoid using any vaginal medication beforehand.
- Write down your symptoms and any questions you have.
Douching, or cleaning your vaginal area with products, can spread infection. So, avoid douching for at least 24 hours before your pelvic exam.
